New Flash Gallery released by Reality Software

A new flash image gallery has been released by Andrey Markin (Reality Software). This free application allows you to create a slideshow on your website. Easy installation, automatic slideshow generation, customizable design and other cool features. The application has been tested by the author and it’s quite recommendable.

The basic features are (taken from the website):

easy installation (no programming skills required)
forms slideshow automatically (scans specified folder for images, creates thumbnails and uses filenames for titles)
supports Flickr photostream
customizable design
fully resizable
fullscreen option
and of course, it’s free…

Cartoonize an image with GIMP

How to cartoonize an image? With photoshop, there are tons of tutorials outside, but with GIMP? I have found a very nice walk through:

Layer – Duplicate Layer
Select the new layer, Filters->Edge-Detect->Edge, select Sobel, Amount should be 2.0, and Black should be checked
Invert the edge-mask layer, it’s in Layers->Colors->Invert
Back in the Layers Dialog, change the Layer Mode to Divide

See my result (in this case, I’ve used multiplication instead of divide):

Thank’s a lot Timo. Here is an example by using the gimp build-in function which you can find under artistic -> cartoon. The result is also not bad, but much less work.
